How do 3D printed T-shirts work?

3D printed T-shirts are becoming more popular due to their affordability, ease of printing and customizability. T-shirt printers can print single or multiple T-shirts at the same time on large substrates. The most common type of 3D printing is mono lithography, which prints using a single hard resin ink jet head that melts the plastic onto the bed.
To create a 3D printed T-shirt you will need a 3D printer, T-shirt substrate (usually a cotton or polyester shirt), plastic filament and hot glue gun. First, download and print the desired pattern from an online source such as Thingiverse. Next, cut out the pattern by tracing it with a knife or scissors onto your T-shirt substrate.
Next, choose the size of printer you will be using and determine how many shirts you want to print at once. Larger printers can print larger items while small printers can only print small items. Generally speaking, printers with less layers per hour (LPH) produce finer detail while printers with more LPH can produce thicker parts faster.
Once you have determined your printing parameters, remove the backing from your filament and squeeze it together until it forms a knot. Cut six 12” lengths of filament and tie them together in an X shape (see photo). Now lay down your T-shirt substrate on top of this filaments so that they cover most of the shirt (see photo). Apply

What are the benefits of 3D printed T-shirts?

As summer comes around, many people will be looking for ways to stay cool and comfortable. One way to do that is by wearing 3D printed T-shirts.
There are a few benefits to wearing 3D printed T-shirts:
1) They are sustainable. 3D printing creates clothing using lightweight materials that can be recycled or composted.
2) They are unique. There is no one else wearing the same T-shirt as you, which makes them more fashionable and unique.
3) They are comfortable. Unlike traditional T-shirts, 3D printed T-shirts are lined with thermal fibers that keep you cool on hot days.
