Lionel Messi scores ninth goal in six games as Inter Miami advances to Leagues Cup Final

Lionel Messi has already helped Inter Miami reach new heights in just a month.
Miami advanced to the CONCACAF Leagues Cup final after a 4-1 win over Philadelphia Union Tuesday.
Messi’s goal against Philadelphia was his ninth in six games since joining Inter, as he has scored in each of his six matches so far.
Messi is already third on Inter Miami’s all-time scoring list and just 20 goals behind compatriot Gonzalo Higuain.
Messi scored for Miami in the 20th minute following a goal by Josef Martinez. His shot skipped past Union keeper Andre Blake’s extended fingers and bounced off the right post.
In first half stoppage time, Jordi Alba added Miami’s third goal, his first in four appearances since joining Inter. Alejandro Bedoya pulled one back for Philadelphia with 17 minutes remaining.
Miami’s David Ruiz ended any hopes of a late Union comeback after 84 minutes with his fourth goal.
Nashville SC defeated Monterrey 2-0 in the other Leagues Cup semifinal Tuesday.
In Nashville, Tennessee, the two teams will face off for the trophy on August 19.
Leagues Cup, an annual tournament between MLS and Liga MX, was expanded to include all teams in each league this year.
